Basic info about ADL

Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) is the most common form of e-Learning at NATO.
Advanced Distributed Learning features educational or training courses delivered over a network using a standard web browser. NATO offers ADL courses on its two major networks, one with access to the Internet. ADL follows a collection of standards and specifications for e-Learning known as the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM). The term ADL is used synonymously with the term web-based training.
SACT ADL courses are located at: https://jadl.act.nato.int.

Join Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Defence Centre of Excellence (JCBRN Def COE) started participation on the ADL in 2010, when one member of COE attended the ACT Complete Advanced Distributed Learning Cooperative Development Training at the Baltic Defence College.
For several months the ADL activities on JCBRN COE fell asleep due to the personal changes. New leader of project ADL on JCBRN COE reactivated the preparation works of first JCBRN COE ADL course in spring 2011.
In summer 2011 two members of JCBRN COE attended the Sixth ADL Forum in Suffolk, Va. Despite the impact of Hurricane Irene, 37 attendees made it to the 2011 Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Forum held at the Virginia Modelling and Simulation Centre in Suffolk, Virginia. The annual ADL Forum now in its sixth year invites ADL developers from NATO and partner nations, users of ADL and academics in the eLearning field together to discuss the ADL program, NATO direction and guidance and discuss best practices for online courses, lessons learned and the latest in academic theory for adult training. The Forum also has representation from Joint Force Command Brunssum and will discuss the ISAF ADL program. The Forum ran from Aug 30th to Sep 1st.
Based on new contacts and information from ADL forum, the established ADL team will go to Oberammergau, Germany, on ADL CDT Workshop for Pre-learning Advance W&R System Course from Mar 12th to 16th. The expected output will be firt Pilot ADL Course of JCBRN COE.
